Colour is the overriding influence in my work. I start with a wide brush mark on a blank surface and the choice of colour is decided in the moment. From this initial brush stroke the painting develops. I might use collage as I add or remove paint. Original imagery / ideas come from my daily seated meditation practice as ethereal concepts, seeds of possibilities, which then are made whole by the act of painting itself. This work has for me a sense of chaos and movement and the eye image appeared after I had an initial diagnosis of eye issues which could lead to loss of sight.
